DRIFT DAY 1 RECAP

DriftSTL Drift Day 1, 2016: RECAP

Saturday marked the fist event of 2016 for DriftSTL, St. Louis, and new Head of Operations, Scotch McDonald. At 8am the gates opened at Gateway Motorsports Park, who again played host some 50 drivers from in and around St. Louis for a day of shredding tires. The weather could not have been better this early out of a fairly mild St Louis winter, and the drivers were eager to start the season off booming. And that is just what they did.

With tech begging promptly at 8am, the track became a roaring smoke show by 9:15, with the announcement made in the drivers meeting that the track would hot, and continuously running all day long in a quasi-Matsuri style. Engines screamed and tires wailed as a line of 25 cars set out of the gate in close proximity to kick off the season, bumper to bumper.

Here are some pit photos from yours truly. We’ll post more track photos as they come in from the media dudes.
